Picture Crazy

My boyfriend, Stink Pants #5 (My boyfriend told me he didn't want me to use his real name when I referred to him in my blog. So I asked him what name he wanted me to use, and he said, "Stink Pants #5". I think he was joking, but I don't care. So that's your damn name, Stink Pants!), bought me a digital camera for my birthday. I was amazed. I mean, it's super expensive to a cheap schmuck like me (and it made the present I bought for him seem like crap on a stick without the stick, but that's beside the point) and it's really nice. The thing is, I didn't think I'd use it all that much.

Boy was I wrong. I use it all the time. It's a Sony Cyber-shot with a 3x optical zoom and it can make movies. You can't zoom in with the movies, but it's nice for making short snippets of reality whenever you feel like it. It uses those little Sony memory cards and it can transfer files to the computer via the USB cable. I'm sure the part about the USB cable isn't all that special, but it's so darn convenient, you know?

I was a slow starter at first. I almost never used it while I was up in Snowtown. (I should have though, because now I wish I had pictures of my friends there.) Most of the pictures I took were just candid pictures of Stink Pants #5. It wasn't until I went home to help with my dad's work that I really started using it. My sister (who has yet to be named, so I'll just call her Sister X) decided to color eggs for Easter, so of course I wanted in. I mean, dyeing stuff is cool, right? While we were coloring eggs, Sister X thought it would be a good idea to take some pictures. My sister is so smart! Now I have a picture of Sister X drinking blue egg dye (well, not really, but it would've been cool if she had.) I thought about bumping her arm while she was posing for the picture, but it would've dyed her shirt and Mom's chairs, so my conscience got the better of me.

The next time I really used my camera was when my friend C-Whore and I went to visit our other friend Patlick in Pittsburgh. There is so much fun to be had when three girls take a whole town on. I've got a bunch of candid pictures of them too. My favorite picture of Patlick is one I took of her in a bar. It was one of those "Hey, look at me" shots where you take the picture as soon as they turn. hahahahaha! During the trip, a Nissan parked behind Patlick's car and we couldn't leave. While Patlick and her roommate went to find the owner so he could move it, I took pictures of C-Whore pretending to bash the Nissan's windshield in. I shall always treasure those.

Since I've returned from Pittsburgh, I've been taking pictures left and right. I actually have a couple pictures of my parents together! There are tons of pictures of my mom with Sister X and I, but there aren't many pictures of Dad because he's usually the one holding the camera. I'm not the only one either. My mom has been going to a china painting show, and she borrows my camera all the time. Earlier today, we were taking close-ups of flowers from her garden so she could copy them and paint them on some dishes.

I guess I should thank Stink Pants #5 for getting me the camera. Not only did he get me the digital camera, he introduced me to Irfanview, the imaging software that I use. I think it's pretty good for being free. So, thank you Stink Pants #5!
