Mom and Laura Lazy and Decadent Weekend Bash!

Mom and I were going to go shopping yesterday. We were going to go shopping today too. What did we do instead? We sat around and watched movies. Ahhh yes, glorious, glorious laziness.

Among the movies we watched:

US: Hellboy, Secret Window, Hidalgo
Foreign: The Most Terrible Time in My Life (Japanese), Tsui Hark's Vampire Hunters (Chinese), The Man Without a Past (Finnish)

I woke up at 12:00 yesterday, found Mom laying on the couch watching. So I did what any good daughter would do. I laid down on the other couch and watched with her. The same thing happened today, except I woke up around 1:00. When it came time to eat yesterday, we ordered a pizza. When it came time to eat today, we ate leftover pizza.

The movies ranged from pretty good to pretty crappy. Hellboy started out okay, as comic book movies go, but ended crappily. Same with Secret Window. Hidalgo was pretty good. I was surprised to find that Omar Sharif is still alive and acting. The Most Terrible Time in My Life was pretty good. It's black and white, filmed in film noir style, and has Yakuza in it. The Man Without a Past was a typical foreign film in that life-changy/coming-of-age type of way. It had it's funny points though :-).

As for Tsui Hark's Vamipire Hunters...vampires in China are so different from vampires in American movies (the Transylvannian type). I've decided to explain the difference between Chinese and Transylvannian vampires via audioblog!

Dracula vs. Chinese Vampire King!

You may be wondering about the decadence mentioned in the title of this post. Yesterday Mom and I went to our favorite sushi restaurant in Scaginaw. It's our favorite because the sushi and Japanese dinners (not the hibachi steak or anything) are half off! They're only doing this until August 19th so Mom and I go there at least once a week (if it wasn't half off, we probably wouldn't go there at all. Our last bill was $28. $56 is just too expensive for two people!)

Well, anyway, we go there so much that a lot of the people there know me by name! It's so weird! Even when I was going to college, I didn't frequent any bars or restaurants enough for anyone to remember my name! You know what? I'm going to finish the rest of my story on the phone, because it's frickin' late, and it's more fun (well, for me anyway) that way.

Sushi is Awesome!
