The Ballads of Laura and Stink Pants #5

I was just listening to something on B's blog. He is lobbying for "Panama" by Van Halen, to be his and his fiancee's "song." You know, the song that encompasses them as a couple (or whatever. By the way, she vetoed his song request). I know a lot of people think having a "song" is trite, but I'm a romantic and having a song will stick with us, even when we're old and grey. It will remind us how young we were when we fell in love (see? romantic!).

Me and Stink Pants have two songs, one that we picked out and the one that was playing in the background when we first kissed. The song that we picked out is "Adieu" by Yoko Kanno and the Seatbetlts (a Japanese group). It's really jazzy and the lyrics are poignant and sad. We're both big Yoko Kanno fans (as you can tell from the first time Stink Pants proposed). I wasn't sure if I wanted it to be our song, because it's about a girl saying goodbye to a guy after he breaks up with her, but it's so pretty and it means the same thing to the both of us. I'm sure we'll get funny looks at our reception when it plays for our first dance as husband and wife, but I don't care :-).

The other song, the one that kinda sucks but describes us perfectly, is the theme from a video game called Animal Crossing for the Nintendo Gamecube. I know it's really lame, but we're both video game/computer/everything else nerds, and it suits us. It's happy, light and sometimes has a dog bark or a cat meow. It's cute, small and nerdy. It's us.

(I don't think it'll be playing at our reception though...right?)
