Stuff my Parents Say

Sunday afternoon. Mom and Laura are watching Gunsmoke. A commerical for a glucose meter comes on.

Laura: Hey Mom, have you been checking your sugar?

Mom: Of course.

Laura: I never see you check it.

Mom: I check it in the morning when I wake up.

Laura: Okay...

Fast forward to Sunday evening. Laura, Mom and Dad are sitting at the dining table. Laura asks Dad about his day.

Dad: I saw Dr. K today.

Laura: What did she say?

Dad: She asked if your mom is checking her blood sugar. (Mom makes a face.) I told her I don't know, I never see her check her sugar.

Mom: I WILL WAKE YOU AND LAURA UP AT 6:00 IN THE MORNING, SO YOU CAN SEE ME CHECK MY SUGAR! (Laura laughes hysterically) I WILL CHECK MY SUGAR FIVE TIMES AND WAKE YOU UP EACH TIME!
