August 20th: The Celebration of the Day of the Birth of My Mom

Yesterday was my mom's birthday. I probably shouldn't say how old she is. Suffice to say she looks younger than she actually is, which in my mom's eyes is awesome.

We had a girl's day out yesterday, running errands and shopping. We went to the mall and I bought a dress for my cousin's wedding next weekend. We also stopped at Pier One and got some drinking glasses, coasters and a new rug for the kitchen (all on sale, of course). We also went to the sushi restaurant where we got half off on our dinner because it was Mom's birthday! Hurray!

Mom wants some new appliances for her birthday too, so we stopped at Lowe's where she picked out a new grill (the handle broke off of the old one. It's been at our house since the house was built) and a new stove (only one burner works on the stove we have now, and she wants a stove with a hibachi on it :-D). I have to stop by there on Monday or Tuesday with Dad to put in the order.

All in all, it was a pretty fun day. We talked and giggled and joked about stuff. It's weird how, when you get older, there are times when your parents cease to be your parents and for the moment become your peer. Jeeze, it odd when your mother's birthday makes you realize how much older you're getting.
